Laurence King – Don’t Get a Job Make a Job
Laurence King Publishing is one of the world’s leading publishers of books on the creative arts. We were approached to design Gem Barton’s book on how to make it as a creative graduate. The book celebrates the various strategies that students and graduates are take to gain exposure, while also including interviews and inspirational advice from those who are now enjoying success as a result of their creative approach to employment.

We kept the design simple. Bold colours, icons to represent the chapter headings and curved corners to give the feel of a notebook or journal. It was recently voted by readers as an LKP Classic having sold over 20,000+ copies Internationally.

What we did
Book design
Art direction

Turnbull Grey and Laurence King first worked together in 2014. They brought their expertise and coherent vision to a book that really needed it – and the result was a great success. I have always found them to be a pleasure to work with: calm, professional and with a consistently classy approach to everything they design.
